yes, i really did get a job as a graphic designer.

for all of our friends that don't play polo, we will be meeting up at the pinball bar (actually called the silver ballroom, located on morganford and itaska) to kick off the night. chaos ensues.

Are we biking from Lindenwood to The Silver Ballroom?

I'd enjoy that.

I'll bring my road bike if that's the plan.

i don't know if everyone is going to be able to do that. ben (and anyone else who lives far away) you can park your car at my apartment and we can ride from there after polo. i just want everyone to be on bikes tonight so we can all take a big ride together to where ever the night takes us

one night stand? the tap room for that free punk show? sandrinas for a banquet room dance party? my apartment for an even later dance party? the abandoned house next door to my apartment for a make out party? who knows.

I may be bartending at mollys tonight. Big hook ups to polo people. Love to be part of the kick off.

Rink is dry sans a few puddles.

Bring brooms to try the puddles, and we'll be golden.

Lucky said...

I'm home now. If you need my broom and squeegee, some one will need to pick me up. Otherwise, Imma grab a bite and head to Lwood by bike.

Where are we playing this afternoon? It hasn't rained yet, but the chances are 60% right around 1pm for thunderstorms.

L-wood? Troll-o under the bridge?

I also need to know if King Beef Luck is a real possibility. I would be honored to play with you two, and would throw myself at the court like never before to keep up with your level of play. If no one from StL is going, though, I need to start looking for other ways to get to MPLS.

Beef said...

After discussing it Friday night, we're holding out until North Americans.

Lucky said...

I'm disappointed and you're going to miss out on a good time. But whatever. At least now I know that I have to look for rides and a team up there.

What about this afternoon?

toph said...

i will play today. under the bridge or lindenwood. l-wood might be better so people can get home when it does start raining. court check? P.S.(stupid question) has anybody ever tried drilling carbon fiber ski poles. any sucess? i found some SCOTTies on amazon for stupid cheap.

Ben said...

The rain may hold off until 5ish. Lindenwood may work.

Lucky said...

Lindenwood at 1? 2?

Unfortunately, I am required to take a family photo for my grandparents. Stupidly, it was scheduled in the middle of the only thing I enjoy doing each week.

So I will be late. Pretty late. Very late.

I will also be annoyed.

Prepare to get worked into the boards.

I'll get out of there and to polo as fast as possible.

Carbon fiber will not hold up as a pole, same
goes for graphite and fiberglass. Don't waste your money.
Harbor frieght (now it's a discount flooring place on Watson) has unused carbon golf poles for $2. (good for reinforcing aluminum poles)
Want to experiment? Try scandium poles, or order some
titanium tubing.
Ps. Toph, bring that front wheel if you can.

Polo at 2 lindenwood.

correction for Anchovi. Harbor Freight is 3 miles further south west on Watson from the discount flooring shop (next to Value Vilage :75 kenrick plaza)
Harbor freight tools is 9901 Watson.

Wow, totally out of the stl polo loop. Anmazinh what happens when you don't read the blog for a couple of days...

2 quick things,

1. I'm in colorado till Thursday, so if anyone what's/needs ski poles I plan on going and getting some. Let me know and I'll get some. I'm not sure how many extras ppl have but I'm here and have the room to bring them home so i might as well.

2. I still want to go to Midwest if anyone is still interested. I get back Thursday night and would glady leave for mlps friday morning. And I have Monday off so I'm totally down. If possible I would love to not drive, as my car got us to Colorado and that's alot more miles up to MN.

I'll try and Check back on here a little more often this week so let me know. As for now, I'm going to eat some pizza and then go play some polo at the base of some mountains! Yes!

King said...

Evannn please get me a few poles! Safe bet to just bring all the poles you can get. We need to stock up for training!

Lucky said...

It'd be me and you Evan, and I don't have a car right now, so that makes you the driver.

Unless we can convince Jake and/or Ben to go too. Everyone else sez no.

Ben said...

I'm not going to Midwests. It's too far, and I'd rather not take the two days off.

But I would totally buy some Scott poles if you can find some (same goes for Anchovy if he has any).

Rose and Francis said...

Hey Evan, we would like to put in a request for three poles!

Lucky said...

It's aggravating that I won't get to play with my city and fly our flag, but I totally understand not wanting to drive 20 hours there and back to play 10 - 20 games of bike polo.

Just found out that there aren't any cruise ships on the Mississippi anymore. Anyone know if I can hop a barge to get from St Louis to St Paul?

here is a haiku that i wrote about polo/my life.

bicycle: thwarted.
fuck you, lungs full of mucus
ANTIBIOTICS

i'd also like to buy/acquire a mallet/poles/mallet-making material?

hopefully back at polo in less than a week!

Anchovy said...

Evan, you should buy as many poles as you can fit. I pay 5-$10 per PAIR when I find them if that's any kind of a guide. I have not found ANY in the last 3 months. I have a few but none for sale currently.
PS. Toph bought 4 poles for $20 total off amazon or something the other day. 7075 alum to boot!
