I'm in for this afternoon. Later is better. How about 4:00 or 5:00?

I want to play!

I went to check out a coupla independent sporting goods stores on Hampton last night for the red franklin roller hockey balls. But they were closed.

4 is OK with me.

almost 3:00 - anyone else around?

no polo today - not enough people for a game

How about a weekday evening? It may be a little cooler out. Do any of the roller hockey rinks in town have lights?

I am definitely down for weeknight game(s). Because all city parks close at dark (with some exceptions for amenities) most don't have lights for any courts. Oddly, tennis courts usually have lights. But the courts with lights are frequently used at night. (TG Park, Sublette Park, etc.)
One option: the basketball courts at Cleveland HS (on Osceola @ Grand). It has walls on 3 sides and lights.

Okay. Let's look into that. How early would people be able to get to a court? 5:30? 6? 7? The later we start, the more we need lights.

And what weekday evenings are best? Thursdays are out for me.

There are lights at Reservoir but that court is small and has tons of big cracks in it. I'd be able to play evening games once in awhile, Monday or Wednesday would be best I guess. No earlier than 6:00.

I think our biggest problem is that if a couple of us can't make it to a game, we can't play. We just don't have a big enough pool of players to draw from to have a 100% consistent game. We need more people to play!

So what's the answer to that? Flyering bike shops, FBC rides, and campuses? Posting on local bike and culture/activity forums? Playing more consistently in a more public space?

We've tried flyers at FBC rides; posts on CL, FGG, and STLBiking. Flyers at the LBS's might help. Playing in a more visible location might help even more. I guess it's time for another round of promos.

Volunteers?

For:
- Flyer (design and print)
- CL / FGG / STLbiking message boards
- putting up flyers at local shops
- locations more visible to folks who might want to play?

You guys wanna play on grass more often?

I think St. Louis has people willing to play on grass. It is also less intimidating, even if it is a tougher sport. There are plenty-o-places for a grass game.

I'd be up for that...

I will be the first to say, I am just not a fan of Mt. Pleasant. I like the court, but the place is out of the way. I think we should play in a more central city location. A court is certainly not necessary for play. Most other hardcourt players don't use a roller hockey rink as a pitch. I say we diversify, there are plenty of flat school-yard lots waiting for us to grace them with our presence.

Most other clubs don't use rinks as courts because most other town don't have them.
Also, coming from a place that is 10mi wide and 25 1/2mi long tells me that nothing in St Louis is "too far".

That court rules all. And it would take a lot to make me give it up.

If you've got the time to make flyers, I've got a weekday free every week to put them up.
