Did STL Bike Polo get a hold of some Mescaline or something? Shits gettin' weird.

Love,

your mescaline induced nightmare.

This isn't King Shin Beef AWK propaganda.

This is STL BIKE POLO propaganda.

Your poster is coming. A poster for every STL BIKE POLO player is coming.

Let's maybe upgrade to a forum or a google group or something that will give us gallery space for the poster artists/propagandists in our midst as well as daily "when/where" information up front for folk who don't want to read through multiple posts to find out about their next opportunity to play polo in St Louis.

Ben said...

An upgrade seems unnecessary. Couple months ago, we'dpare a new posting every three weeks. Tthis weeks been more active. Oh well. There are ~12 of us. Our small club on a larger message board seems overkill.

If you want easy access to time/location info, there must be some kind of text box that we can add to the side of the home page that can be updated to show that day's polo meeting.

I actually think some sort of upgrade to a small simple forum might fit us really well.

Royal decree:
A fight to the death is in order. You must fight for the rights to this blog... And for your LIVES.
Contenders will be locked in Lindenwood rink. The only way out is to kill or be killed. Jumping out of the rink will be an even greater fate. As your soul will be eternally trapped on this Andrew W.K. blog. Trapped between awesome posters and nonsense "training" advice... FOREVER!!!

I always thought the femur was the strongest bone. Cause I'm kinda like a femur. Too bad I'm not in STL and don't have a polo mallet. Alas...

Anonymous said...

Oh yeah. I meant to say somthing about that.
Ben, the femur IS the strongest bone in the body. And I know this for a fact because Anchovi and myself have both broken ours. More proof that these mere mortal bodies cannot contain the force that is StL BIKE POLO!

The Tibia is the strongest bone in the human body. It's a common misconception that the Femur is the strongest. I always thought the Femur was stronger, but I was Googling "shin" and the Internet confirmed that the Tibia is stronger than the Femur.

YES! Lee wins again.King Shin Beef will be victorious. Femur losers!!!!
Hey Beef. do you think you will be healthy enough to go to Co-Mo in a few weeks? No pressure.

Beef said...

I'm not sure. I really want to go, but at the same time, I don't want to risk missing tournament season by playing too early and not fully healing.

I'm visiting a shoulder doctor on Thursday for an MRI. I'll wait and see what he thinks.

Atlanta uses a google group. Seems to do everything for them. Gallery, discussions, ugly front page. If we all had future phones, we could kick out an email with the time and location instead of a text bomb.

Check it out: http://groups.google.com/group/atlbikepolo

I like it. Who else?

Quater Pounder with Cheese said...

dont push yourself. We all miss playing with you, and we would miss it even more if we somehow pressured you into playing before you had entirely healed. I would much rather have you fully healed for M-wests than have you stressing your shoulder at Co-Mo.
Toph.

How is an email bomb better than a text bomb?

Unknown said...

Anyone on the group could send an email bomb. Currently, I think only Chovy has the mass texting plan/capacity without raising his phone bill.

Really though, it was just another thing to mention in the list of real and potential advantages to getting off a blog. I like the player poster project. I even like a couple of the propaganda images. I do not like going through 4 topics to find out if we are playing on any given day. I hate anonymous posting and posting under a false/made up identity. But that's just me.

I don't like the google group at all. It doesn't look like a website and wouldn't someone need to be part of the group to get the info? New players are the ones who need to get the info from the internet more than anyone else. The rest of us can just call someone.

Don't you all remember the days before the internet and cell phones? You had to make plans to meet your buddies at the park or at Matt's house at 2 on Saturday. Remember how it all worked out fine and you were still able to have a good time. If you showed up late to Matt's you just rode your bike to the ball diamonds to meet up with everyone.

Playing pickup games shouldn't be as difficult as we're trying to make it. I'll see if there is an easy gadget to ad to the blog that is always easily accessible. I don't think we need to be moving to a new website. Blogger is easy and most importantly FREE to use.

Ben said...

I agree with Trent.

STL BIKE POLO said...

a new gadget has been added. it is updated via twitter. all of the people who are usually leading the charge to setup the next game have "future phones" and can easily update. It will always be in the same spot on the page.

I will give the twitter login info out to those who we feel need it.

Ben said...

Awesome. Time to make a Twitter account.

STL BIKE POLO said...

you won't need a twitter account. we'll all use the same one. the blog probably CAN show multiple twitter feeds but that seems even worse than the issue we're having now. let me do some quick tests and i'll pass out the twitter login info.

If you want to follow on twitter the account is bikepolostl. Andy C already has stlbikepolo registered oddly enough.

Ben said...

Yeah. A group account is better. The only thing I'd use a personal Twitter account for is A) posting game times and B) following AWK party tips.

I like the solution, thanks T.

Posters for poster people, info for info people. No one has to slog through comments if they aren't interested.

well lucky won't be getting access to the twitter account, if he can't even use a computer how can we expect him to tweet?

just messing with you - i can delete all those. it might take awhile though.
