We're Going Sailing!

Let's get down to business. The float trip. The Missouri Bike Polo float trip. It's happening.

When should this happen? Summer is quickly coming to a close, and hard decisions need to be made soon!

After polo tonight, the CoMo crew called me and voiced their support for the float trip. Everyone is ready to go. Let's hammer-out the details St. Louis style (i.e. in the comments section of this post).

Hands in the center!

I know Trent had some initial ideas for this. Let's set some things in stone. CoMo is chomping at the bit to be a part of a Missouri Bike Polo float trip.

I've already called these folks: http://www.nrocanoe.com/

The cheapest I could find. $25/person (estimated) with free camping for up to two nights.

The date has been set as 9/24/2011 for quite some time. Yes it might be cold. If you are too much of a sissy you don't have to go.

According to the Farmer's Almanac, it's been ~90 degrees on September 24th the past four years. If that trend continues, it should be plenty warm during the day for floating.

Trent Sturms said...

Ben, that Farmer's Almanac stuff is Lucky's job. If you take that from him what's he to do in his retirement?

Ben said...

Since Lucky moved to Chicago, I assumed we lost his helpful Farmer's Almanac research. I was just trying to pick up the slack in his absence.

I imagine Lucky owning a large, dusty, leather-bound copy of the Farmer's Almanac.

I did not mean to step on his researching toes.

I have been to the NRO before. It is a 'party' river. Lots of drunk people, sheriffs with helicopters, and topless girls. Let's do it!

Floppy,

It sounds magnificent.

I'm pretty sure the 24th is the only date that works for me. late september is basically still summer anyway.

Yaaaaay float trips!

Toph A. Loaf said...

i could do that weekend. lets decide so people can take off work.
my vote is for the 24-25th!

Dear STL Bike polo.

I missed you last night. Please come back. I am so much better than any other court that has lights in St. Louis. I can change. I'll try and be less slick and drain my water.

Yours always,

Maplewood Court

The party is at an old folks home, Jake. The party is at my house... oh, wait. I see what you did there.

It's two days of friendlies and a house party/bonfire in a rough neighborhood with pretty buildings and empty lots. St Louisans should feel right at home.

No more 5 dollar bills that stink of cigars in your birthday cards if you don't come up.

Lucky said...

*is NOT at an old folks home.

Damn, spoiled my own joke.

STL BIKE POLO said...

Toph,

The decision was made a long time ago, in a galaxy far, far away.

We are floating on September 24th. No vote necessary.

Dear Grandpa,

I can't make it to your retirement party due to work scheduling :'( please come to STL soon and we can have a Lucky's Retired from Retirement party.

Love, Rose

Come to St. Louis and play polo. Fuck Chicago for making you consider retirement.

The registration process for tournaments is getting dumber by the minute.

E-Alleycat?

E-Go fuck yourself.

Polo-Velo-Bloomington said...

^lol!

Information said...

Why don't they just give select states a certain number of spots in the tournament (example: "Missouri, you can bring five teams")? Then all of the clubs within that state could decide, in their own way, how to divide up those spots in the tournament.

Ideally, this would result in more in-state polo commingling and cooperation as we work together to decide who we want representing our state.

We could have a small qualifier tournament or a huge party or a random drawing. We could send our strongest teams or our biggest shit shows.

In the end, it'd be up to us on who we send to larger tournaments and not the speed of our Internet connection or our ability to scour the world wide web for answers to stupid questions (Q: How many times has a team from MKE won Midwests? A: I don't care.) determining who gets accepted to these large tournaments.

I'd rather spend time playing and planning with CoMo than frantically trying to win an online rat race.
