After polo is not a good time to meet up. People leave at different times and in various states of attention-payability.
How about we meet BEFORE polo? 11am at Felix's in Dogtown. Free brunch buffet, beermosas and bloody mary's from a polo-friendly bartender, and we may even be able to get Dave to come as part of his work week bar visits.
Then we hit Lindenwood or wherever at 1pm. It's supposed to be sunny and above freezing on Sunday!
It was free for me last time I went. It was dead in there and less than an hour til they closed the buffet (2pm). But the important thing is that he said it was free for "regulars and friends of the bar". No guarantees, but I'm still going.
And here's what we need to discuss:
1. Do we have a cash and/or beer sponsor in PBR? If not, we have to charge 20 a head plus 2 a can for beer all night. To cover rent and food costs. 2. Do we have food sponsors and/or are we each making a huge pot of something sometime during the event? 3. Think of systems to keep 80-100 people playing 10 minute games often enough to stay happy. Or think about limiting entry to fewer people. 4. Blues game. Min group ticket buy is 16-20 seats. 20% down. Cheapest seats available for a Sat nite game are 40 per. Shuttle bus?
if we cant get breakfast free, its only $5. not much at all for a buffet...
my question: is it really going to take us 2 hours to discuss ideas/eat? noon just sounds much more feasible for our group. but then again, we say 11 and no one will show up till noon anyways.
I will be at Felix's starting at 11. I'll eat and drink and enjoy the company of anyone else who can make it. If that turns out not to be a representative sample of StL polo players, then we'll have this meeting standing outside at the court during afternoon polo.
These questions need answers or we are going to have a skatium full of disappointed, hungry mofos from all over.
point taken, Lucky. I'll be at Felix's at 11(ish) with a t-shirt design in hand because I got bored at work yesterday. And I also strongly support making Big Tides t-shirts to sell (when else would we have the excuse to actually make em?)
Hey STL! This is Megan from COMO/Chicago. I will be in your fair city the Wednesday before X-mas and want to play some GD polo! What time do you guys and gal usually play and where? I'll contact Julia or Lee the day before and make sure polo is still on. I'm really looking forward to the Lock-In and am curious when it is going to start on Saturday (late afternoon or early evening?). I'll see you cats in a week and a half!
but if you make big tides shirts it would be infringing on the intellectual property of some poor misguided child... that being said i would consider buying one too. -charlie from como
My friends can print for $3.50 a shirt. I was thinking we would order around 35. Sell em for $10, and we would have just over $200 to go to the Skatium fees (assuming we sell all of them).
Any one have any input on this? Know somewhere cheaper? Want to order more? Want it to say "STL Bike Polo"? Let me know.
Ok, I've made the announcements we discussed on Sunday. Thanks again for all your ideas and volunteering to cook for, house, shuttle, and make phone calls to sponsors on behalf of 80 yahoos who like to crash into eachother on bikes.
Also, I saw Nick last night and he brought up an interesting point: waivers and first aid/emt on standby. Booze, sleep deprivation, bike crashes...any opinions/insights/anyone know an EMT?
I am going to be in stl for a while starting tommorow, and am wishing to play pick up with yous guys. I will have a mallet, but no bike. Would there be some one coming to my aid?
Could you reserve me a spot at the Lock-in and I just bring $money on Sunday? I've never used pay-pal before and i don't own a credit card anyway. Thanks.

What a genius. Andrew WK should be our regional bike polo representative!

Kick Milwaukee Jake to the curb. AWK for NAHCBPA rep in Oh'10!
Regional representative?
Andrew WK should be Hardcourt Bike Polo's governing body.

Felix's it is. Even though it's not guaranteed to cure your hang over.

Hey guys, I'm going to be in STL this weekend. You guys are playing at 1-ish at Lindenwood? I'll be there, or wherever...with a bike...and a mallet.
And P.S. I have no fucking clue what Big Tides is...either its an inside joke or I'm showing my age...sigh.
see previous post...
Big Tides for life...
Bwaha! I don't know how I didn't see that. Big Tid-E-s. Yep, I'd totally buy that t-shirt.
Haha. There's a demand for the shirt and zero supply.
We have to get to work.
I'm saying! It's a gold mine.

Lucky,
I payed my fee on paypal, but accidentally hit the enter key before I could type a message. Just a heads up.
P.S. Please make Big Tides shirts!!!
I also paid, but did send a message. And yes, T-shirts. I need something new to spill beer and blood on at the Lock-in!
I am going to be in stl for a while starting tommorow, and am wishing to play pick up with yous guys. I will have a mallet, but no bike. Would there be some one coming to my aid?
No Polo for me tonight. But I will be at the Silverleaf from 7:30 on to watch the Blues play Chicgao and drink cheap draughts.
Anyone who wants to join me in that and talk about how the lock-in is 5/8 sold out in 22 hours is welcome.
Kayce, we bring extra bikes and mallets to polo. Sunday at 1pm, court TBD.
Lucky,
Could you reserve me a spot at the Lock-in and I just bring $money on Sunday? I've never used pay-pal before and i don't own a credit card anyway. Thanks.

Trent's paypal idea was genius. I'm buying that man a beer next time I see him.
