I Started this Blog . . .

So, anyone interested in celebrating my 28th Birthday with me should come to Friendly's tonight around 7:00.

I was just lurking on .ca and was inspired...I'm just throwing this out there:

The Bench Minor tournament in NYC sounds awesome. What if we tried to do something similar for our next round of hosting friendlies?

We could have several teams of 8-10 people. They'd play 20-30 minute, nonstop games with line changes on the fly. The teams would play round robin games all day, and at the end, the two best teams would duke it out.

People could state their interest and skill level a week or so beforehand, and then we could attempt to sort-out even teams for the friendly tournament.

OR

We could just play Kikkelo all day ;)

it sounds like a good idea on paper. there seem like there could be a few major issues just off the top of my head.
1.con- line changes on the fly seem a little chaotic.
2.pro-this seems like a really straight forward way of having the best two teams play each other.
-question. how long are the shifts, how do we determine how long people will get to play. we need to try and make sure that people at least get some equal playing time.
-didnt we do something like this in KC that ultimately resulted in team STL being wiped out from playing three games in a row, then having to face Nick Chris and Charlie? (team Co-Mo)

What I've been trying to do with the last few games of friendlies is have a "winner-stays-on" sort of 2-3 game mini tourney. No subs or line change;, just team x vs team y, winner takes on team z.

Personally, besides having fun and trying new things, I do not support the goals of the bench miner tourney. I think the reffing situation will be terrible and overwhelming, and Toph's right about 2-3 dudes swinging their bikes over the rail at a time. If Adam wants to join a pick-up hockey league, he should. Sorry if the feeling amongst followers of an established sport isn't as brotherly as that of innovators of a new one.

Long way to say, I'd help anyone in St Louis throw any kind of event they want. But I wouldn't take the wheel of a truck as big as the bench minor.

that does sound more like hockey. the only problem with winner stays on is what happened in K.C. Lucky you played that game, what are your thoughts about teams being exhausted from beating everyone else.
-this seems to be the best way though since we dont really have regular teams that we could say were the best of the day then again. part of the fun of polo is the egalitarian aspect of this game. i just dont agree with two teams having to duke it out while the "z" team is waiting to crush "x" or "y"
-non polo related query. Lucky, could you maybe finish threading a threaded fork for for me? its only halfway done a i dont feel like taking it to BIG SHIT or MAPLEHOOD.
