anyone want to play polo Thursday evening? I probably can't make it Wednesday, or if I can, i wont show up till late. last week's polo at maplewood was so intensely fun, i would like to play again before I leave town for over a week.

Rinzin said...

what time do you play on wednesdays?

zach-bloomington said...

Is polo happening on Wednesday? If so, what time? A team from Bloomington might make the trek if it's happening early enough.

Francis said...

We should decide on a place and time soon so that we can tell the Bloomington guys something concrete. Evan, Travis has your sunglasses and said he'll bring them on Wednesday.

Ben said...

We polo at 6 on Wednesdays...Probably at Maplewood because of the lights and the ability to play late (late = 10pm). Maplewood is next to the pool and behind the police station at the corner of Manchester and Big Bend.

I'm curious: Does anyone want to see "Inception" one night in Madison? I could wait until we get back to STL, but I think it'd be a fun team bonding experience after a full day if polo battle.

Test. Comments aren't showing up. Test.

-Shin - Beef-. Let's practice tonight. Play some games at tilles? Anyone else on bored? I can't play Wednesday. Tonights the night.

Toph A. Loaf said...

ill play tonight. i cant play wed either. anyone else down? i can play thursday. if thats still an option.

nick said...

i'll train you three.

Ben said...

I was going to help Katie assemble her new bike tonight. I imagine that won't take long. I could roll by the park afterwards. Keep me updated.

trent said...

maybe

The ESPI V t-shirts declare the New York club's intentions. "I didn't come here to play Bike Hockey," reads the back.

trent said...

anybody have any high quality (lightweight) ski poles or mallet head materials?

I need to make a new mallet before the tournament.

Ben said...

I saw that quote about bike hockey. The person wearing that shirt is certainly a cancer in HARDCOURT Bike Polo.

If you don't want to get bumped and checked, the grass polo meeting is down the hall.

nick said...

Trent. stop by my house, I will take care of your mallet material needs

Anchovy said...

im down for this eve. I would be there at 7ish. Tilles? ok.

Toph A. Loaf said...

so. whos playing tonight? 6pm. hockey rink in tilles? ben, are you fully assembling that bike tonight? freewheel and brakes? that may take a minute. brakes anyways. come to tilles if you can. looks like some people will be there.

Rose said...

I can't play tonight or Thursday, but I am definitely in for Wednesday, especially if Bloomington is coming.

Anonymous said...

Bloomington -

Assume we'll be playing at Maplewood around 6pm on Wednesday night. Some people may be able to start earlier. The court may change but we'll keep you updated.

is inception a movie or a band?

Ben said...

Movie. Google it. It should be good.

Ben said...

Tillies is soccer central. Somebody better get there early if this is really going down this evening.

anchovy said...

yeah, that tilles is gonna be bumpin. Should hit the Lindenhood, but whatevs, im gonna be late. Got some clist appointments to make. See you at 7-730. Ahh yeah. im stoked to play you guys as a team.

Toph A. Loaf said...

chovi is right. lindenwood it is! 6-6:30. later dudes!

Ben said...

Echoing Anchovy: Lindenwood would be easier to get and hold. Just a suggestion.

Sellchovy said...

Ben, can i have you or your dad's email? i got an old tonka truck for sale for cheap. $10. I can email pics real quick and easy like. Its a cool old one.

“We can finish in the top, and have beaten great teams, but we're definitely not favorites,” says Jonny when asked if they have a shot at the championship. Rather, he cites teams from Vancouver, Seattle, New York, and Richmond, Virginia as serious contenders, as well as one from Milwaukee.

Awesome guys, can't wait to come to STL Polo Camp for a night. Not sure if Zach can still come but Rinzin and I should be there.

-Travis (bloomington)

Francis said...

Ben, Travis wants to know how many red balls you left in bloomington and what kind they are.

She said...

I lost two blue balls

Ben said...

Both balls were red Franklin AGS balls. One was drilled. The other still had water in it. It's really not a big deal. I think we had five or six reds last night.

dudes sorry, bloomington is pooping out on ya. we all have to work really early tomorrow or late tonight so we gotta save the trip for another time. We are still gonna play at home though! Sorry evan your shade will come soon! And ben, we'll give you your balls.

travis

anchovy said...

Looks like rain tonight anyway. Good night to skip it.

Ben said...

Don't worry about my balls. They were a sacrifice to the polo gods. A small price to pay for the 1st place trophy from the Bloomington Invitational.

Toph A. Loaf said...

well said BEEF. whenever there is victory, there is cost of victory. does anyone feel like playing on turdsday? AKA thursday?

Liz said...

is polo on tonight at all?

Rose said...

I'll still play tonight, if anyone else is up for it.

Unknown said...

Polo was awesome last night! My arm feels fine today. Cant wait till sunday!!! Thanks for the awesome welcome back dudes! couldnt ask for a better night.

anchovy said...

If its not raining i will be at the maplehood rink, unless we wanna try Lindenhood. Water on Maplewood is nuts slick. It will have to be 100% dry. Lindenhood is more forgiving.
Whatever, just let me know or post here.

Evannn said...

I agree with anchovy on maplewood slickness, but I'm always down for later polo...

But after maplewood water polo a couple of weeks ago lindenwood might be a safer option.

I'll be at Lwood at 6:30 unless I hear otherwise

Rose said...

Francis and I will be there (probably closer to 6:45 or so).

Anchovy said...

me too. 6:30-7 ish. Lindenhood

Liz said...

me 4?

Anchovy said...

Changed back to Maplewood . Soccer at lindenwood (I'm at lindenwood now)

I know he only appears around Halloween, but I wish Althotas would go to Madison with us...And spit blood on us before our first game.

Just saying.

PARTY TIP: You're alive, so you might as well have a blast. What else is life for except giving your all and having a ball?

Beef said...

Running list of things to bring to Madison:

Fireworks.
Spiked shoulder pads.
Kicker ramp.
Live chicken(s).
Throwing stars.
Mini helmet for chicken.
Hatchet for chicken slaughter.
Boombox.
Buckets of sand.
Heavy punching bag.

What else am I forgetting?

nick said...

iron pipes for bending.

Anonymous said...

tent, four loko, laser sharks

Ben said...

Yes, Nick! I forgot about bending stuff.

We also need Stack!

Anonymous said...

we DO NOT need any Stack

CUBE OF DEW

Quote from a thread on "dot CA" :

if I can get everyone around these parts to stop learning sweet tricks to score on all you chumps, selling comic books, lifting giant weights, drinking four loko, smoking the stickiest of the icky, being from New Jersey, chugging smirnoff ice, stepping away from the mallet laboratory, and having more fun than anyone in the world... then ESPI's will be in Richmond next year. Pending our ability to create four courts designated for bike polo

I guess these are the dudes to hang with as they seem to think they are "having more fun than anyone in the world"

Ben said...

Dudes that are "having more fun than anyone in the world" don't waste their time posting on LOBP.

Anchovy said...

You need some Joose! Wasn't joose what we were drinking Trent? Joose is the new sparks.

Trent said...

No it was STACK. I've never seen or heard of it again. I think it was a one time special item. Didn't you think it tasted like wine?

Anchovy said...

Oh yeah! Stack. It was like beer that tasted like wine. Bad combo. But super strong. They need to make whiskey beer and stop trying to create new alchopops.

Anonymous said...

Stack was a mystery...
Does it even exist?
Was that a dream?

Ben said...

I have photos that prove it wasn't a dream. Stack is too real.

Tournament simulating all-day polo on Sunday? Start early, eat at the court, play hard. I need to get a whistle and practice reffing. You all need to practice kicking dirt onto my shins.

Ben said...

...And cussing and screaming in your face.

You should wear a Foot Locker uniform so I immediately know where to direct my rage after a penalty call.

Toph A. Loaf said...

"a CRISP can of stacks is a great way to get a party started..."
-open up a can of party.
-hey, .ca partiers. dont bother inviting STLBIKEPOLO to your party. were already there.

Toph A. Loaf said...

we need to have somebody in an STLBP shirt(preferably warm up jacket) who's only job is to have a hat to throw on the ground and yell at the referee ala Lou Pinnella.
Or...he can have stuff to throw at the ref. empty cans of STACK? ala vintage mid ninties Mike Keenan.

Andrew W.K. said...

If I feel worn down or tired out, I just say, "Suck it up, Andrew!" and start partying again. The key to life is perseverance.

RSVP me for tourney simulation play on sunday... IV GOT THE RAGE IN ME!!!

nick said...

im already there...

Ben said...

Pizza at polo again!

Unknown said...

Pointer-polo-asaurus?

I'll get a whistle, earplugs, a striped shirt, and a chest protector with a bullseye on it so you can all practice throwing stuff at me.

Toph A. Loaf said...

g-pa! i cant believe you arent post-poning polo for some FUTBOL game. count that as a victory for BP!

other notes-"penal....penal...penalty!!!!"
Are there red and yellow cards for BP penalties or do you just get to go drink some water in a little box. can dudes get thrown out of tournaments? how many party vans are going to madison? all these questions will be answered on sunday.(i know theres only one van going. that was just for dramatic effect)

Unknown said...

I'll play before and/or after the world cup finals. Unless one of you future phone owners can tether to a laptop and stream the match courtside.

Tapping holes is not fun.

Ben said...

NAHBPC training is more important than the World Cup finals.

Your Mom said...

Partying.

Unknown said...

Ben- I'm not playing at the NAs, so my role at polo today is more like a sparring partner. Or a tackling dummy.

What time/which park are we doin' this polo pizza party today?

Anchovy said...

Lindenwood is my vote. Tables for pizza, easy to order pizza from , court similar size to the next tournament court.
Shade. Water. Central location.
I don't know what time. I can't make it till about 1 but that doesn't mean others can't show up before then
Ps. Boombox would be nice

Toph A. Loaf said...

lindenwood is clearly the best option. it would be just plain silly to practice on giant Mt. Pleasant. no doubt, shania and jamaal would for sure eat all of our pizza. i say...home court. 12:30-1. ill can be there about 12:30. post it here if thats too early. i dont want to be there by myself for an hour.

Anchovy said...

Toph, I'm bringing a spoke wrench if you need those wheels trued up. Seem to remember a slight wobble. That goes for everybody. Free wheel trueing today!

Unknown said...

I'll be there between 3:30 and 4, unless the game is lop-sided or boring. Cos that's just how much you all mean to me.

Anchovy said...

I just sent everybody a text for 1:30 polo at lindenwood. I'll be there at that time (or by 1:45)

Check hotels dot com for rooms near the dane county airport. There are deals 2-4 miles from the courts for 50-60 a night. 70-90 a night for hotels with a pool in the same area.

Mo, Jazz, Nick, see you tomorrow night! Keep an eye on the blog to find out the wheres and whens. We do play in maplewood, but it's too slick if it's rained recently.

Toph A. Loaf said...

we could play at maplewood. lindenwood has benches and a pavillion and bathrooms and a water fountain filled with mud and mounted goals and lots of cool stuff.
maplewood has extension cords for lights, we can play later. its kinda slick, even when its not wet. maplewood court is right off manchester by the ALDI and right next to the highschool\swimming pool.

Ben said...

I'd rather play late at Maplehood tonight and take it easy on Wednesday with a mellow polo session before NAs.

i didnt come here to play skateboard polo! said...

geez ben if you love maplewood so much why dont you marry it. Toph can play there.

Evannn said...

X2 to ben

Lets do maplewood tonight at 6.
We can play later and its closer to where the Austin folks are staying.

And plus we get the rockin maplewood polo jamz. Always a plus in my book!!

POLO JAMZ! said...

85 degrees. sunny. tunes. polo. out of towners. lights. what more could we ask for?

Beef said...

BLOOD!

Its what's for dinner said said...

Beef do we need more lights?

Ben said...

Three of my four lights have new bulbs. The fourth light may burn out. So if you have a single light to being, I'm sure it'd be a helpful backup plan.

In short: Yes. At least one more light.

Toph A. Loaf said...

i got that one light beefburger. dont worry about it. see you at polo.
