Next Tuesday: Bike in Movie at Atomic. Maybe a polo game. Check the comments for Lucky's word on that. Breaking Away is good, you like beer and hanging out with your friends so don't miss it.

"I know for a fact that Louisville parties harder than almost anyone in the Midwest- I hear they even have a trophy that confirms that fact"

my birthday is on Sunday. Could someone bring a grill to polo? maybe a spatula too? thanks. -Patrick

Haha! At the invite in bloomington, yes, louisville got way more out of hand than st.louis- hence the trophy. but then again you didn't even send your "a squad"..

I guess y'all will just have to come to Louisville and let 'em know who's boss.

Louis vs. Louis

Louisville would have spontaneously combusted if they tried to keep up with the Dignified Gentlemen and our team manager the night after the tournament. Fact.

Partying is a marathon, not a sprint. And Louisville bonked in the first mile.

hey yall (stl polo). sorry to bomb your discussion page but i just want to personally invite every last one of you to come to Austin for our halloween tournament. please. pretty pretty please! i am working on one of our parties being held at the Terrible One ramps, you could bring your bmx bike and shred on our infamous 9th st jumps, and at the oltorf garage, and everywhere in between. it'd be real neat to have yall down here.
that is all. thanks for listening.

after fixing my giant in 5 seconds just by stretching the chain or something, Karl gave me a couple used saddles, so the extra bike is rideable again, if Alex or anyone else needs it on Sunday. -Patrick

Yes, take my word on it. Bike polo at the atomic cowboy this Tuesday from 6-8 before the movie.

I would like some help in the shop tomorrow (Saturday) to make sure everything is set up before-hand. Then I'll need some help moving and setting up the boards on Tuesday afternoon between 5-6.

Happy birfday Cole. See everyone back at the Handlebar tonight for the grand opening. See you Sunday for P-tricky's birfday grill at L-wood.

Toph A. Loaf said...

Sean

Coach said...

We should play at Mt. Pleasant.

Rose said...

I've got the leftover signs (four of them). They'll be at polo tomorrow whenever I get there (3-3:30).

Anonymous said...

We must play at Lindenwood, because we have beer and grilling! I'm already awake, because I went camping this weekend, so I could arrive early if someone who is bringing a grill wants to help me set this up.
-Patrick

Costs/times to get to Austin over halloween weekend:

Driving: depends on mpg of car and number of people going. 14hrs each way.

Train: 220 round trip. 22hrs each way.

Flying: No direct flights. 280-300 round trip. 4-5 hrs each way.

What're people thinking? I'm gonna ask my new boss tomorrow about getting Friday and Monday off for travel days.

Anchovy said...

I'm
Bringing the grill. Patrick is bringing some stuff. I guess bring some foods to grill if you want.

King said...

Bring a broom! Mine got stolen and we need to sweep lindy!

Toph A. Loaf said...

who steals a broom!?

Anonymous said...

I'll bring a broom that I think somebody, Lucky maybe, left at lindenwood very long ago. -Patrick

Ben said...

Grilling isn't possible at Mt. Pleasant? I never knew that.

/sarcasm

Toph A. Loaf said...

There was that one time we tried to grill at mt. pleasant and nobody but me, ben and chovi showed up.
-8 year olds racing a $1,200 29r around a huge court...priceless.

Lucky said...

I'll be there around 4. Stuck in the shop finishing these damn demo court boards and braces.

Lucky said...

Super-fun polo-bq today, everyone. Thanks to all.

I forgot to ask if someone (Rose or Ben) could make 1/4 sheet cards with the basic rules of polo on one side for the people at the demos.

Also, someone from the mayor's office called me last week to ask if we would like to set up in tower grove ave this Saturday morning and play during the open streets thing that will be going on. Also Saturday, Oct 9th.

Toph A. Loaf said...

more polo!!!!!!

Anonymous said...

thanks to the best club ever for such a very awesome birthday!

Lucky, will you need any help transporting the boards on Tuesday to the demo? I have an evening class, but would like to help from 5-5:45.

Alex, if you still have any of those brownies left, could you bring a few on wednesday? thanks
-Patrick

Lucky said...

Transporting them I don't think so. But I will need help setting them up between 5 and 5:45. Meet us at the Atomic Cowboy.

Someone bring cones, please!

Francis said...

I can meet you there at five.

Rose said...

If someone wants to write up some basic rules, I'll do a reprint of the flier with them on the back. Or someone else can do the whole thing. Whatever works! I'm just not great at writing out stuff like that.

Ben said...

The rules have been written and are being printed by Rose.

Whats the open streets thing Sat?

Sean

Lucky said...

Let me know if you do open streets I'm in... I can help set up, let me know what I need to bring. And where we would be setting up. Sean

Lucky said...

I think I've just about exhausted the club's interest and resources for public demonstrations for the year. Also, 8am is on a Saturday is not the best time for most of our regulars. So unless a bunch of people call me to say they really want to do it, I'm going to call the lady from the mayor's office back today at lunch and say "no thanks".

Lucky said...

Tonight: Bring cones. Bring brooms. Bring extra bikes and mallets. Bring orange balls to keep the games slow and the ball in our tiny boards.

There is a street lamp over the center of the court, no idea how much light it will actually cast. Sundown is at 7:40-ish, so we may not need to rely on it much, but we need to know if we should bring lights to the October event, when sundown is at 6:30.

I'll be at the cowboy a little after 5 with all the lumber and a coupla drills to set up the court. Anyone who can get there that early will be put to work and thanked with drinks.

Thanks, y'all.

Trent said...

I won't be there for polo tonight. Too much work to do.

Anonymous said...

Yall need to start drinking in the morning instead of night... I'm kidding... Let me know if you get enough, I can make it.

On a side note, anyone got any Handle Bar Bar or stlpolo wheel decals? Gotta cover those anti-war protester signs Rose gave me.....
Sean

Anchovy said...

I got orange balls galore. Maybe 2 cones max. I got one for sure. No broom. Uh, no extra bikes really. I think the Kona is in pieces again. My Trek's brakes are not good for polo. 1 extra mallet. Im shooting for 6 to get there. Im way busy. Im going to SanFran for a week tomorrow. I should be home working but i guess i can take a break and kick it for a minute

Tim A said...

Mark your calendars. Columbia will be hosting friendlies on Sat. Oct. 9th to welcome Springfield MO to the wide world of polo. Festivities will begin at 11 am at Cosmo Park. Be there!

Polo @ Maplewood tonight. 6pm SHARP.

Anonymous said...

Nevermind. It's going to rain in about an hour.

Evannn said...

Well if it does end up raining and anyone wants to do something let me know. Today was my last day of work and I leave Monday, so lets party!!!!

Party Animal said...

P-A-R-T-Y!!!!

Ben said...

Keep an eye on the sky. This patch of rain is breaking up. Polo may be possible.

Rose said...

I'm still up for trying to play in spite of the forecast, if anyone else is.

Lucky said...

Out for tonight.

Can we get a vote on playing at the Grove Fest on Saturday, September 25th from 4-9? We've been asked to set up our court on Talmage and demo by both the Atomic Cowboy and the Handlebar.

I vote yes.

Ben said...

Handlebar was saying someone offered us warehouse space on Manchester for Grove Fest.

Ben said...

...and if we do it there, we may be able to use that space for polo gatherings in the winter.

Anonymous said...

i'm out. for tonight and grove fest.

Don't forget to get that permit!

-Nick

Rose said...

I can't do Grovefest.

Francis and I are going over to Maplewood in a little bit.

Ben said...

Come to Maplewood...even if it's just to goof off.

I'm leaving my house in 5 minutes.

Anonymous said...

i'm out tonight. if you wanna go to an expensive "country" show at the old rock house thats where i'll be.

it looks like PAR-TEES will be making it's debut at Grovefest so I'll be there but won't be able to play polo

-Trent

Ben said...

Maplewood is gold right now.

Anonymous said...

Whats Grovefest? If it's local I should be able tp make part of that time. Confirm no polo at open streets this weekend?
Sran

Anonymous said...

Nevermind I found Grovefest...
Sean

Lucky said...

Confirmed no polo at open streets this weekend.

No one has offered us the warehouse space on Manchester. Chip and Tatiana both thought of it as a possibility, but Chip said he had not asked the owner of the space yet. He also said that they've used it in the past as a for-profit performance space, which implies that its use is not free.

Tally so far: 1 for doing demos at Grovefest. 4 saying they couldn't make it. 0 saying it's a bad idea.
