Men In Tights...

CoMo polo. They don't know how to party, and they don't know how to dress.

I think our club is a pretty laid back club. I don't think STL Bike Polo has any club rules. Well, I guess, "don't be a dick" is the only rule to which we all adhere.

But I'd like to suggest another rule that our club should follow:

No male player representing STL shall ever wear tights. No exceptions.

We have never had anyone make this fashion misstep, and I would like to keep it that way. I insist that STL men remain men. And that means refusing to slip into skin-tight, stretchy tights.
Please do not embarrass our club like this poor gentleman(?) has done to CoMo Polo.

Discuss.

Toph had those Danskins on the one day remember?

Colin wore his Mom's jogging tight-ish pants every polo day up until just a few weeks ago. And i wear tights all winter (with pants on over them).

Aren't your personal grievances and polo "advice" usually posted on one of YOUR blogs?

Ben said...

I don't remember, but I don't approve.

This (exposed tights) is a club issue...not a personal "I hate ____ about the Poloverse" rant.

next tournament we're all wearing tights for solidarity.

Now that i realize the wrongness of my ways, i shall never shame my club in this fashion again. Actually i beleive what Co-Mo has on here are sliding shorts. for baseball. Not bike polo. Yes i did tights for one day, they were bike tights and one day only. This was actually a physce out method cuz i was wearing black cut offs too. Rose and Francis were like "what is Toph wearing?" And i scored like 3 goals. Then i burned them in a post polo funeral pyre for all things not polo related.
Polo Related:Colin wears his moms pants?!!!! Oh yeah, we should play TONIGHT. at LINDENWOOD. at 5:30...

No demo

Ben said...

I'd be willing to contribute time and money to building a set of boards for future demos...But not in less than a week.

Tell that dude that we'll pass this time, but we'd be interested in future demo opportunities.

Ps. What Would Althotas Do?

toph said...

Althoas From The North would stack the bodies of the Unfotunates on top of each other to make boards. He would of course demand that those who survived stand next to each other to serve as goalposts for his little game.
Lucky, i dont own any red pants. I do own red cutt offs though...they have not been burned.

Ben said...

Fact: I have red pants. I wore them to one of Julia's going away parties...I also wore them to prom.

Fact: They looked amazing.

Fact: I'll consider burning them when Lucky unleashes his bulldog and it doesn't sound like an injured poodle.

Ben said...

I literally just want you to bark louder at people.

Outside of the number of decibels your bark generates, play at any level you like!

Evannn said...

As far as boards go, I agree with Ben. I would dedicate time and energy to building some, but not in a week.

As far as demo goes, I'll play. But I would much rather play on a better 'cour't, in a better environment. Much like the tour de grove could be done of bmx bikes, it wood still be a race, but wouldn't do It justice.

As far as tights go, I say to each their own... If you can shread in lime green tights and house slippers, that's still shreading.

As far as NAs, I am 100% going. If someone needs a third then I would be happy to join them (lucky, the girrrl, or anyone else) if not then no biggie, I'm still going to go and play pick up/party/get splattered with chicken blood.

As far as this post, it's done.

Lucky, can i get the money for that GT this eve? You going to the Deacon later? i know STL bike polo has a long history of people buying bikes and taking months to pay (or not pay ever at all) and i think we should start a new tradition of prompt payments.

Unknown said...

I was going to pay you Wednesday at polo. You can swing by tonight if you want to take a check. Or I can hit an ATM on the way home tomorrow and pay you then.

If we, as a club, are into the idea of pooling a little money and labor, I vote we spend it on goals for Mt P and fixing the goals at L-wood.

anchovy said...

Thats a good idea. I like the idea of all of us going in on a box of hard red balls, then everybody (or most everybody) gets A SINGLE red ball. THat way if i forget it, or somebody else does, we are not stuck with soft orange ones.

I also see decent hockey goals from time to time. I didnt think we needed them for MT pleasent, so i didnt buy them. I figure we got cones and 2/3rds of our away games will be on courts with cones so its good to get used to those as goals.

Ben said...

I'd be willing to contribute time and money to buy/build portable Mt. Pleasant goals.

I'd rather not invest any time fixing Lindenwood goals. It seems pointless to repair those goals only to have soccer players and hockey brats destroy them shortly after investing our money, time, and work.

Just my thoughts.

Does full body skin suits count (a la greenman)?

i'd love to see an all white STLWK team versus full spandex COMOsexuals!

Zach, it would be embarrassing how bad como gets beat.

Anchovy said...

I think building the goals up at Lindenwood is a a good idea. Soccer dudes are usually not there anymore thanks to the little kids and if cops come for any reason we can say "look, we play here all the time. we take care of this court. We build the goals up and when the sides get messed up we repair that as well. We also sweep it and remove snow in the winter time"
Plus its in our own best interest to have safe goals there with no big snags to die on.

Anchovy said...

Is STL BIKE POLO W.K. Trent or Ben? I forget. Im confused.

Unknown said...

Yeah, the L-wood goals are getting dangerous. We can build 'em up better than ever - almost soccer proof - for 100 to 120 bucks. New chain link, new braces, new cables. That's like 15 buck a regular player for 2-3 years woth of great goals.

wk is benjamin.

nick said...

Lets just weld plate steel to the up rights for the goal. They will be permanently fixed.

Ben said...

Yes! I vote Nick's idea.

Viet Cong sweat boxes on each end of the rink!

Ben said...

Zach, CoMo would lose and be wearing spandex. Double whammy!

Unknown said...

I was thinking of the welding route... Im wondering if Beefs Generator would support a welder. In ANY case we can fix it waaaaay cheaper than $100.
I have a roll of chainlink we could use. I have steel. All we would need are the steel bands that go around the fencepost.
Iv decided to build a new bike for destruction. I wam looking for some help from my friends in the form of:
Wheel cover Material, 26" Frame ideas, Sraight Forks, decent cranks, 26" wheels... Other misc objects... all free of course...

Thanks kids.

anchovy said...

Ive got a big sheet of coroplast, but if you build a frame out of that its not going to last very long.

Anchovy said...

i have a 26 wheelset for $20. straight. they are polo virgins.

for frame ideas, i always like that curved seatpost design, so you can get the rear wheel really tucked in. Makes a super short rear triangle and it turns quick as shit also.
Some track bikes have these curved seatpost tubes.

Trent: i was confused cuz there were post by STL BIKE POLO W.K. and Ben in the same comments section.

Jake i have an old TonicFab fallguy frame in garage also. I dont know if that is interesting or not for a polo build up. Needs a minor reweld. Cromo, Horiz dropout, 24 wheels. vbrakes. Bmx rear hub spacing. $50

Exactly. I don't think of myself as a goon, but if that's what everyone's expecting...I'd hate for them to be left wanting.

Jake,
take a decent mountain bike and cut the headtube off and steepen the angle / de-rake it. put a straight blade fork on and BLAMO! polo bike.

I've got a frame that can be used as a prototype and some spare parts i'll donate to the cause. I call dibs on the first dudeplex designs custom polo frame available to the public though.

Trent- yes. I will chop up anyones frame that is willing. It's just steel....
Ben- great ranting. Love it. Feathers have been ruffled
Anchovi- C'mon. C'mon. Jk. I'll trade u somthing.
