Bike-in Movie tonight!

Bike-in Movie tonight at the Atomic Cowboy. Have a drink, see some old and new friends, hand out a million flyers and recruit some new bike polo players. Let 'em know that we'll be playing demo games at the next two bike-in movie events. I'll be there after 7. No idea what time the movie starts.

Lemme know your plans.

What movie are they showing?

Hopefully, "Twilight." *fingers crossed*

Someone gimme a call when your heading up there...

Lucky said...

I dunno. Can't find a flyer on line anywhere. They're up at the Cowboy, sez Rose. Mebbe she knows the movie and time.

Rose said...

The Hangover, indeed. Starts at dusk!

Francis and I are planning to go, but I don't really know when (he works until around 6 and we never actually talked about logistics).

ps. Gonna get copies of the flier a bit later. Any estimations of how many we want? (other than a million...)

I've been in New York for over a week now and I haven't seen AWK at all yet. Where is he hiding?

I did see a guy get on the subway that a little bit looked like him, but he was wearing all black, and was not, in fact, AWK. I had a moment of delirious excitement, followed by extreme sorrow and dejection.

Miss you guys and miss polo, and super super miss having a bike.

Ben said...

The Daily Puppy should be at the top of the blog so we don't have to scroll to see it.

Great job Ben.

Ben said...

Yeah she showed up. She was expecting you to be there, Lucky. We told her you probably went to bed early.

Thanks Nick. I'll take your word for it. I don't want to watch myself be awkward and uncomfortable on camera (Insider info: I was so uncomfortable that I had trouble clipping the mic to my shirt...Instant loss of coordination).

Lucky said...

Ha! I DID go to bed early last night. I also installed a pretty big kitchen's worth of concrete countertops in Washington, MO yesterday. Didn't get back to town untill about 7.

I told her on the phone that I wasn't interested in appearing on-camera anyway. Best I could've done would be introductions.

Toph A. Loaf said...

Ben, you totally SHREDDED that interview! Good job. were you at all distracted by me and jake making faces at you. at all?

Ben said...

Jake was making me laugh. I had to fight to ignore him and avoid laughing out loud.

you guys have seen this, right?

I forgot to mention this earlier: Tequila Wyld Party Bar is no more. It's been renamed "The Lucky Red 7" or something like that.

Let's all have a moment of silence.

"Everybody get in the cage!"
"Get off of the cage!!"

King said...

that video is awesome. She actually got a good shot of Francis ruining my wheel! Haha! Good work Ben. Club president for life!

Lucky, I wanted to inquire as to if you had any more of your fancy double brake levers (long, how I like it). I think one would work exquisitely on my stead and would help me score more goals.

Let me know if you do so I can start bitching at everyone to day trip to STL so I can buy it and play polo with you fellas.

Anonymous said...

Fuck! I mean: your COMPANY'S fancy brake levers. I need a ST. CAGO brake lever. They don't belong to you. Lucky's a person. They belong to ST. CAGO, LLC BITCH!!!

Lucky said...

Yeah, I've got 'em. Bring every one around for some polo, or just buy one off my webstore. stcagopoloworks.bigcartel.com

In udder news: Everyone bring 20 bucks to polo on Sunday so's we can buy materials and build some boards for demos at the Cowboy.f

anchovy said...

And the worst idea ive ever seen goes to (drum roll please...)
THE 2010 MOONLIGHT RAMBLE! starting in Forest Park (no street parking this eve!) at the Muny parking lot.
Sit back and watch as 10,000 bike rack ridden SUVs cram into the Muny parking lot.

Lucky said...

Speaking of ridiculous "sanctioned" biking events, we've been asked to set up a court and demo at the Atomic Cowboy on Monday evening for the official Gateway Cup afterparty instead of playing all day at Francis Park during the race. This is better cos we only have to build one court in one place and we get three uses out of it now. This party and the two remaining bike-in movie nights.

Also, I got us some free drink coupons for doing the demos. So we'll each have at least one on the house for setting up courts and publicizing the event.

Also- when/where are we meeting up to crash the ramble?

nick said...

I am cleaning out my basement anyone have any use for the wooden mallets from pre lucky bike polo in stl?

King said...

Polo tommorow fuckers! Bring your a game and play for more than a few hours.... Smart thing to do, play later when the suns not as hot...
I want to play 6 or more hours!!!

Lucky said...

Sundown is at 8:30. 6 hours of polo before that means starting at 2:30, which is when we get going anyway.

Polo. Lindenwood. 2pm. Shall we grill to keep people around through the dinner-hour? I can bring some beer and veggie stuff.

King said...

Polo is now you slackers!!!! See u at lindenwood!

Ben said...

There's a dude on stlbiking asking about fixed gears and bike polo.

If someone could direct him this way, we'll probably have another player willing to join the club.

(I can't remember my username/password combo for the forum)

Toph A. Loaf said...

is that patrick? its patrick isnt it!!!

Lucky said...

I wanna go back in time and make my first ever hardcourt bike polo goal an over-the-bars backhand from a low angle. I think I'd be a better player for it now.

Welcome Sean (Shaun?), Robert, and Robbie. Hope to see more off all of you on the courts.

nick said...

Great Polo Yesterday!

Ben said...

If Patrick had a question about fixed gears or bike polo, he'd ask you during the nightly phone call you two share before going to bed.

"You hang up first."
"No, you hang up first."

Do all the gay guys still hook up in the muny parking lot? I had this sweet go-cart and it was the only decent sized parking lot in the area. I just remember lots of techno and used condoms. Oh yeah and the anal sex

This has been well covered.

Look whos talking Mr.Sleepy Naptime, leaving the 6 hour polo jam on Sunday early.

Ben said...

Leaving early made up for the Sundays and Wednesdays where I've played every single game and wanted to play more while I watched other people pack up and leave early.

I have a new plan to not break a chainring every time I play polo. Does any one have a small 110bcd chainring? Its the standard bolt circle for mountain bikes, anything under 38 teeth that has 5 holes is most likely a 110.

Lucky said...

I like your plan. I've got a 37t ring, I'm pretty sure. I think the smallest 110bcd available is 34t.

Bike Nerd God said...

Quick Question. It shall determine if you are admitted into Bike Nerd Heaven or Bike Nerd Hell.

What does BCD stand for? No Cheating.

In Bike Nerd Heaven you instantly have the perfect bike for every situation without even thinking about it.

In Bike Nerd Hell you get a brand new full suspension NEXT every morning.

Sean. Is it lucky... Seaking a few parts to get a bike together by Sunday.. SQUARE taper crank, one of those nifty dual pull brake levers, and a 30.1 seat post to name a few...

ST. LOUIS LINE SUBS, HOUR LONG, RUN-WHAT-YOU-BRUNG, DRAFTED TEAMS, SHOWDOWN!

PLEASSSSSEEEEEEEEEEEE DO IT.

NOW.

BLOOMINGTON, STL, COMO, KC.

SET A DATE. I'm SERIOUS!!

Lucky said...

OK, ok, Fine. Let's talk about MO Minor dates at polo tonight.

Let's also talk about collecting money to build boards for demos at the cowboy.

Sean: I actually just cleaned out my box of bike crap. It was all donated to Bike Works. They are linked to on our front page. If you have the time (and patience) you can head over there to dig through bins for parts. Or another one of us might have something, too.

Nerds: Without looking it up, I believe that BCD stands for Bolt Center Something. Distance or Diameter.

Hope you all had a fun ride last night. Man is it getting nice out!

Lucky said...

Also: Tomorrow (Thursday, August 26th) is the last night of track races at the Penrose Park Velodrome for the season. If you've never seen it, it's pretty cool. Support Robert and Kayce, drink some beers on the infield, hang out until dark in North City!

I'd like to ride up from work, but would like a group ride or a lift home down Kingshinway, if anyone else is thinking of going.

Bloomington is busy with our "state championship" on Sept 11th. Any other date is fine.

btw, we're looking for an neutral/out-of-state ref for our little tournament. if any of you guys are interested there's an honorarium of all the free booze you can drink!
